About us

We're Salford's digital inclusion team

Inclusive Digital GM is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company. We work in partnership with Salford City Council and a wide network of community groups to make sure no Salford resident is left offline, left out, or left behind.

Why we exist

Almost everything is online now — booking a GP appointment, applying for Universal Credit, talking to family, finding a job. For thousands of Salford residents, that's a real barrier. Some can't afford a device or data. Some have never used a smartphone. Some just need someone patient to sit with them for half an hour.

We're here to bridge that gap — practically, locally, and without judgement.

How we do it

  • Free Chromebooks for residents who don't have a computer at home
  • Free SIM cards and help finding cheaper broadband
  • Weekly Tech Buddy drop-ins in libraries and community spaces
  • Devices, SIMs and kit for community groups across Greater Manchester
  • Signposting to wider support through the Community Connector

What we believe

People first

We start with the person in front of us, not the tech. We listen, we go at their pace, and we never make anyone feel daft for asking.

Local and trusted

We're rooted in Salford. Our sessions run in libraries, cafés and community spaces people already know and trust.

Free, always

Our help, our devices, our SIM cards — all free for residents. No catches, no upsells.

Partnership, not duplication

We work with the council, NHS, housing providers and charities already doing brilliant work. We add to the network, we don't compete with it.

Tech Buddies

Tech Buddies is our volunteer programme. Tech Buddies are local people — students, retirees, professionals — who give a few hours a week to sit with residents at our drop-ins. No tech CV required: patience and kindness matter more than knowing every menu.
